·Recruited young, being a templar has been the only life Basch has ever known. Unfortunately, the entirety of that experience was also in Kirkwall, having been born there, the eldest child to an armorer that worked for the Templars at the Gallows. · So far as experience goes, he still considers himself young - he can see the plight of the elves in the alienage, of the humans struggling in destitution beyond the Gallows gate, of the dangers that blood mages threaten... but also of the dangers of too much power within a single person's hand. It's why he tried to maintain a neutral stance, to appear neither too supportive of Knight-Commander Meredith nor overly sympathetic to the mages. · When the mage rebellion began, he initially followed orders... but he hadn't been able to kill the children in the Circle dorms. It just hadn't seemed right. Instead, he'd gone to turn himself in for failure of duty to Knight-Captain Rutherford and arrived in time to see the insane battle between the Champion and the Knight-Commander. He'd supported the Knight-Captain's decision to speak against the Commander without regret. · When the famed Seeker Cassandra Penteghast arrived in Kirkwall and recruited the Captain into the Inquisition, he was one of the first to volunteer to follow. The Inquisition seemed less concerned with forcing a choice between templar fanaticism and the mage's desperation and more... neutral. More focused on doing the right thing for everyone, rather than focusing power for one side or the other.
